Bengkung Belly BindinG + Abyhanga

In Ayurveda, we treat the mother with just as much care as the new born baby. With our holistic postpartum support we spend equal time providing abhyanga and belly wrapping for mama.

An abhyanga is similar to a traditional massage except it focuses more on the nervous system rather than the muscles. It also increases circulation, supports sleep, helps balance hormones, and activates internal organs.

  • Bengkung Belly Binding is the art of wrapping a postpartum women’s belly for physical support to help with the recovery process after childbirth.  This Malaysian style wrapping technique consists of using a long, thin piece of non-stretch fabric and wrapping it around your hips and abdomen. Women are traditionally wrapped as soon after birth as possible, ideally day 3-5, for 40 days or longer if needed.

Benefits of belly binding include postural support for the torso and organs as they return to pre-pregnancy position. It supports and assists abdominal wall healing. It also helps reduce pain, bleeding, and overall discomfort. The 100% pure muslin cotton fabric is very customizable and can conform to any body shape for a comfortable fit.

Included in our Bengkung belly binding package:

a handmade 100% cotton muslin wrap

    Abhyanga body work

belly binding with personal instruction on how to self wrap

  • Abyhanga is the practice of applying warm oil with gentle bodywork as a therapeutic art form of Ayurvedic medicine. In Sanskrit, the ancient, written language from India, “abhy” means to rub and “anga” means limb, so together they make up the word massage. Abhyanga during postpartum includes stroking and gently rubbing to circulate energy and warm the body for faster healing. This is the perfect reset for your nervous system, connecting you back into your body and giving presence to your mind and soul.

Yoni steaming

  • Also known as vaginal steaming, is an ancient practice that involves sitting over a pot of steaming water infused with herbs. This gentle and natural therapy is believed to provide various benefits during pregnancy and postpartum.

During pregnancy, yoni steaming can help promote relaxation, reduce discomfort, and support overall vaginal health. It may also aid in preparing the body for childbirth by increasing circulation and toning the pelvic floor muscles.

In the postpartum period, yoni steaming can assist with healing and soothing the perineum, reducing inflammation, and promoting overall recovery. However, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional before trying yoni steaming to ensure it is safe and appropriate for your specific situation.

  • Yoni steaming offers other benefits. By utilizing a combination of steam and herbal infusions, yoni steaming helps to increase blood circulation to the pelvic area, promoting overall reproductive health. This increased circulation can potentially aid in reducing menstrual cramps, regulating menstrual cycles, and alleviating symptoms of hormonal imbalances.

Yoni steaming may also support the body's natural detoxification process, helping to remove toxins and stagnant energy from the reproductive organs.

Additionally, this practice can provide emotional and spiritual benefits, fostering a sense of connection and empowerment with one's reproductive system.

However, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating yoni steaming into your wellness routine to ensure it aligns with your individual needs and health conditions.
